Your heart is to be guarded. Your body is to be respected. Your soul is to not be intertwined with just anybody.

Proverbs 4:23 NLT

“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”

To guard your heart does not mean to seal it up. It does not mean to lack emotion or shy away from vulnerability. Rather, use wisdom in all areas of your life. Where your heart is, so are your thoughts. These things can determine your actions and impact your life greatly. You cannot control what may happen in the world, but you can focus on the decisions that you make.
